NC Named #3 for Business
The newest rankings are in from Chief Executive magazine and we’ve moved up from last year’s #4 ranking to the #3 spot for business. We wearned a B+ for both "Taxation and Regulation" and "Workforce Quality" and an A- for "Living Environment". Texas and Nevada ranked #1 and #2, respectively.

Though very supportive of low taxes, CEOs criticized the status of the education system in low tax states and called for improved public school system and better infrastructure.
I was surprised to see this..after all, educational systems and infrastructure are funded through general taxation and, if you prefer to rate a ‘no-tax’ state as #1 and #2, how can you also expect top quality schools and the best infrastructure?
IMHO, corporations may thrive in ‘no-tax’ states but..who’s getting all the profits? Not all shareholders are locals. Who’s paying for the schools? Oil dollars? Gambling revenue? Just curious.
I think #3 should have been #1…North Carolina’s growing exponentially, attracting more and more topnotch industries, providing a terrific living environment with excellent workers at the same time it’s collecting taxes from the people who are using the services and facilities. That’s as it should be. Way to go, North Carolina..and I’m sure Raleigh’s leading the way!
