Local bands play Downtown Live, but are usually on two acts before the "headliners". And there is still hope for the two July dates yet to be filled. It will be interesting to see who they get for those shows.

House of Blues has a deal with Booth Theater in Cary, so if any "HoB bands" were to stop in the Triangle, they'd play there, not DT Raleigh. *That* is something Raleigh should fix, or negotiate with Cary. It doesn't make sense for the Arcade Fire to stop in Cary, but would be a great show in Moore Square (or Durham/Chapel Hill if they had a suitable venue).

I am glad the DowntownLive music series has been continued, but I think it is time to update the list with some bands that are rising in stature instead of looking to relocate to Del Boca Vista Phase II for retirement. With such a great music scene in Carrboro and Durham you think Raleigh leaders could work with The Cats Cradle and Merge Records to showcase some Bands that are current and fresh like the Rosebuds, Arcade Fire, Mars Volta and The Raconteurs. Currently most of these bands bypass Raleigh and play House of Blues in Myrtle Beach. Also, Raleigh should start negotiations with the owners of City Market to convert the former Greenshields space into a general admission concert hall that could be a must stop for bands touring the country. Lincoln Theater could be recruited to manage the space and handle bookings.
