Glad I missed that rumor! I would’ve been very upset to not be able to get their delicious vegetarian chili & cornbread anymore.

How did this rumor start?

Someone said they called and the number had been disconnected.

Been the Hard Times once, won’t go back.
Can’t trust a Chili place that doesn’t have some kind of beans in their signature product….even if it is authentic.

Greg: Actually they do have beans. Check the menu…it says “With or without beans”…you just have to ask for them, since they’re giving you the option.

Rob, Right. I’d got them, on the side. I guess I meant the beans weren’t cooked into the chili.
NBD, lots of other places DT I like to go.

Actually, authentic chili does NOT contain beans (I only know this my boyfriend is a competitive chili cook) because the beans dilute the true flavors of the meat and spices. The guy who started Hard Times is also a competitive chili cook. We met him at the SparkCon chili cookoff last year.

I like SOME beans in chili, but I’ve found that they make me very unpopular.

Good news. One of the few places downtown that you can get a filling lunch for just $6.
