Wonder how much credit they’ll give to wal-mart and other retailers for creating the rivalry by stocking all their gear nationwide and ESPN for over-hyping it and blowing it way out of proportion. As its rightly been stated already, the rivalry in NC is State/UNC because no one cares about Duke. You have to go national to find people who believe the hype about how big of a rivalry it is. Is it a “rivalry” sure (notice quotes) because the two teams have been good at the same time lately, thats more convenience than rivalry. A real rivalry is unadulterated hatred of each other and that is NCSU/UNC hands down. Any sport, any time, any place….pure rivalry.

Yeah, I’ll buy that. I laughed when I read that HBO wanted to divide an auditorium with Duke and Carolina fans. Where are they going to get enough Duke fans to fill half of an auditorium?

I’ll probably get slammed for this, but I’ll state again that while Duke-UNC may be one of the biggest rivalries in the nation, it’s not the biggest rivalry in the state. (That still goes to State-Carolina, IF you are polling fans statewide. There just aren’t that many Duke fans in North Carolina.) Now, if you ask people in Calif. or Texas or NY what’s the bigger rivalry they will state Duke-Carolina.

Yeah, I’m not sure why HBO didn’t commit to chronicling the UNC/NCSU rivalry, because it’s sooo…in..ter..e Sorry, the sentence ended when my knee went down.

That’s correct. HBO Sports had cameras all over Cameron for the basketball game there in March. Should be intresting. I hope they cover it in all sports between the two schools and not just so much on basketball.
