Market Place Signing Tenants

MarketPlace2 The new office/retail complex at Lake Boone Trail and Nancy Ann Drive is almost complete. The center will be called The Market Place, and will be anchored by JK’s Steakhouse, formerly of North Hills. The complete tenant list is not being publicized yet, but it appears that both Camille’s Sidewalk Cafe and Salsarita’s will open a location in the center. There will also be a FedEx store and a LASIK eye surgery business.

marketplace The project is being developed by Oaks Construction out of Cary. People are most likely to have heard their radio advertising during UNC sports games, as they are an active developer of dental offices in the region. There will probably be a dentist who signs for space in the complex, but to be honest, that 1 mile diameter is absolutely saturated with dental offices. No word on when business these and other businesses will begin opening, but the center looks almost complete, so finish work is all that most of the spaces need.

I really like this development and with Camille’s and Salsarita’s, it shows how that $10 lunch corporate spot is willing to enter into the non-strip center location. Although I am no fan of Camille’s since I think they serve a “Bread Sandwich”, it is not that bad and I think Chipoltle is better than Salsarita’s, it is still nice to see them in the city instead of just out in Brier Creek.

While not perfect, this is a solid new infill project that has gone under the radar. I rarely make it over that way, but drove by recently and thought it was pretty well laid out. If you wanted to, you could actually walk to the stores from the sidewalk–no huge parking lot to block your way. I guess the parking is in the back/underneath.

Still haven’t managed to actually make it into any of these stores or restaurants yet. From what I’ve seen though, this project is a good one. Raleigh needs more of these projects. There are so many areas that that wouldn’t require the city to expand on the perimeter.
