Powerhouse Plaza Updates Renderings

powerhouse_logo The development team behind Powerhouse Plaza (previous article) has released new renderings for their highly anticipated project. The 11-story building will sit across the street from the 42nd Street Oyster Bar and house five stories of office space, and five stories of Hyatt Place hotel rooms. The ground floor, as shown in the the second image below, will contain the hotel lobby, a large restaurant, and a small retail corner store.

What a great project!!! Both in terms of scale and architecture. It will complement Quorum Center very well and bring additional life to the streets of Glenwood South. Can’t wait to see this materialize.

I also think this is an exciting project. It is great to see downtown expand. I like the style of the building. Not a big fan of another above ground parking deck, but I imagine that putting them underground makes the cost to construct jump. Thanks for the drawings Dana.

Main buikding is a Nice design: BUT – why not incorporate the parking deck into the building like RBC Plaza? Is city council, downtown planning and Raleigh Alliance getting the message out there or are these people afraid to hurt developer feelings (need to put the fist down).
Valuable downtown property wasted for a parking deck with no retial on ground level
