Time Warner Cable Adds Four HD Channels
Engadget HD reported tonight that Time Warner will add Discovery HD (260), Speed HD (273), ESPNU HD (288), and Bio HD (296). As the article explains, cities like San Antonio have 70 HD channels in their lineups, but this is a start.
In a related story, I spoke to a Time Warner Cable employee who said that they are shaking in their boots about AT&T’s U-Verse coming to Raleigh. They have sent out employees to map where each U-verse box is placed throughout the area. TWC will soon attempt to lock people into extended contracts with early withdrawal fees, so be ready for that call. (When they do call, I full intend to describe, in great detail, just what a P.O.S. their unreliable HD DVR is)

TWC just doesn’t get it. They’re too big to care about customer service and how to retain customers. I’m surprised they’re adding three HD channels.
They can bribe us with HD channels, but as you mentioned, their equipment is useless. We returned our HD DVR because it was a piece of junk (they gave us one even though we didn’t have an HD TV at the time) and cancelled our cable service just out of principle. I’m so done with them! This should be a pet project of gogoraleigh…hold TWC accountable for the aweful customer service and equally aweful equipment they try to push on their customers.

I concur, my HD DVR has failed to record 4 shows this week due to nonexistant scheduling errors. Thank goodness for Hulu.com and showings offered for free on network websites.

So what’s this give us, 40% more HD channels? Thanks for nothing TWC. The only thing stopping me from switching to satellite is my HOA dragging their feet about getting it in our building.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll be happy to give TWC a piece of my mind about their HD DVR box if they call. Every time I call their local number I get a busy signal or find myself on hold for ages only to be cut off. Yay for competition!

I can’t wait until Time Warner calls me to try locking me into a contract! Quite the contrary, dear TWC, I am seriously considering cancelling your service altogether; now that hulu.com and NetFlix combined provide most of the content I want to watch, and I can watch them on my TV through PlayOn software and my XBox 360. The ONLY thing stopping me right now is HD NCSU games!
I will jump on U-Verse the minute it’s available in Raleigh!

I don’t like being tied to a contract but I have to say that I have, not once, had an issue with TWC. I don’t have digital which may have something to do with it. And we seem to get screwed out of stations, and our price keeps going up even thought they take channels away.
On second thought…
