He visited my elementary school in Hope Mills when I was in the 3rd grade (~1985). He was the first "big star" I'd ever met and I was so proud that I had gotten him to sign my yellow Cub Scout Day Camp t-shirt (although my mom wasn't thrilled that I had him sign my shirt). I've been watching him for over 20 years and the local sportscast will never feel the same to me now that he's retired.
