Time Warner Cable Rolls Out New HD Channels
On next Thursday (4/2), Time Warner Cable will add several new HD channels to the High Definition tier:
- AMC HD – Channel 244
- FX HD – Channel 245
- Outdoor Channel HD – Channel 247 (subscription to Digital Sports and Games tier required)
- Travel Channel HD – Channel 248
- Science Channel HD – Channel 249
- HBO West HD – Channel 413 (subscription to HBO required)
- Showtime West HD – Channel 453 (subscription to Showtime required)
The channels will presumably be offered via SDV, so a Time Warner set-top box or DVR will be required for tuning. As with other recent roll-outs, CableCard customers will be left out of these channels (for which they are paying).

Actually, Time Warner Cable is rolling out the SDV Adapters in our area now. I got a letter last week, and received my SDV adapter this past Tuesday (3/24). Had it setup in minutes, and unlocked a ton of HD content for our HD TiVo. Granted, cablecard customers with the cards in their TVs themselves are still SOL.

Thanks for the heads up, Ryan! I’ll keep my eyes peeled for my letter.

Dana, I wouldn’t wait for a letter at this point actually. The letter pointed you to their site to order your adapter:

I ordered Thursday, and had it the following Tuesday. Setup was a breeze, though I did have to use their site’s tech chat thing to get them to send a signal to it to allow all the SDV HD channels to show up.

Unfortunately I don’t think the tuning adapters work with Windows Media Center yet even though we were promised an update. I still signed up for it just in case.
Of course I still believe that Windows Media Center will have DirecTV support this fall and I can finally leave the SDV madness behind because I am tired of paying for channels I don’t get.

Too late. AT&T U-Verse will be installed at my house this Wednesday. Faster internet, more channels, and more features for less than I pay TWC each month

Mike, if you don’t mind my asking, what part of Raleigh do you live in?

I’m Six Forks and Spring Forest/Lynn area. Service became available to me about 2-3 weeks ago. First saw the trucks doing work at neighborhood nodes in December but in mid-January to early February I was seeing 3-4 trucks a day all around the area.
If you wanted to check out pricing and such then here is an address for a vacant foreclosure house in the area:
6733 Eastbrook Dr
Raleigh NC 27615

Eh, I tried that address and it’s saying it’s not available. Oh well…
