The PHX situation is a very serious one for the NHL. I think I have read every article written on it including all the Canadian comments behind the articles. Even read some insiders info. True, they built the arena in the wrong place. I have been to a game in PHX and it is a great arena but is far out of the city for a weekend night game. Like building an arena for the triangle in eastern Zebulan. Had they put that in Scottsdale like originally planned, I doubt this conversation/article would be taken place.

The other item is Hamilton which Balls-silly wants to take through movement or the court system. I have too believe that his standing with the BOG (Board of governors) was getting better after the last 2 fiascos (Preds and Pens) but he just threw that down the drain. Like RIM, Mr. Blackberry will take it to court in hopes of "our-lawyering" and the expense there off, to get his way. I have to guess that many NHL team governors are against him now, more than ever, even if they don't mind another team in Ontario.

Some reasons 1) The owners in big markets who make money don't want the precedent of a team entering the market with court papers but not NHL board approval. What keeps the next guy from moving a team to Detroit and telling Illich (Wings owner) to screw off. 2nd) What Canadians will not talk about much but is at the heart of the issue is that 900 pound gorilla sitting in the corner of the room wearing a maple leaf sweater and his little cousin wearing a Sabers sweater. The leafs don't want to PO the fans of Ontario by talking about this so they are pushing the NHL and Batman to fight it. But you can guess the top NHL club and probably a top 5 storied franchise in the World is behind much of the fight. Although you will rarely hear a Canadian fan or newspaper say this. The 3rd and much smaller issue which many be for small market owners, why put a team that will drive higher revenues which will drive up the salary cap ?

Anyway, sit back and watch as although Carolina may not be mentioned as much, they are still mentioned more often. Only after the game tomorrow will the Canes break even. And I bet a years salary, that PK (canes owner) and Balls-silly have talked. All depends on what PK wants to do in the years to follow and what happens to the now deceased Thomas Thewes shares, the other minority Canes owner who just passed away.

That said, keep on pulling for the Canes, keep supporting their sponsors, and keep buying tickets. That is the best way to keep “court-mongering people like Balls-silly away from swooping in and taking a team and have the courts and NHL following behind him.

Also, the RBC rocks and go Canes !!!!! After tomorrow night, Bring on Sid Malkin or the Ovenchicken !!

I guess this shows the level of reporting that comes from a newspaper that was on the verge of shutting down last week. If only Aaron Ward could stick up for himself instead of the Canes Fans he might not have a broken face this morning. Not the wisest decision by Walker but Ward definitely had it coming.

Bob Ryan is entitled to his own opinion. Our arena remains one of the loudest and for as long as the Canes play competitively, I expect this to be the case for many years to go. Even if we are at the top 5, we still have reasons to cheer about the decibels Caniacs generate.

After looking at the tax records, It appears that Aaron has not one but two very nice homes in Cary.

I've had the opportunity to speak with Aaron Ward on a handful of occasions. He's modest, but maintains a great sense of humor and the kind of dirt mouth you admire on a personality of the public.

As a stand-up guy, I'm not surprised that he's willing to give Raleigh little credit. He still has a house in Cary, and I hope we will get him back one day.
