I went to Gravy a few weeks ago and was disappointed that my Bolognese Pasta listed in the "Gravy" section of the menu in a restaurant named "Gravy" lacked.....wait for it.........GRAVY!

I pointed this out to the manager and he told me "you have a point there". He proceeded to bring me a thimble of gravy to put on my pasta and meat sauce. He was very nice but I was really disappointed. He followed up the meal with free desserts for the table. Their panna cota is OUTSTANDING. I'd go back just for that! I will give them more time and try them again in a month. In the meantime, I'll just be happy to go next door to Sitti.

Dana, I would say I have to concur on your impression - but fortunately without the 2 hour after effect. I went with a couple of friends and as much as we wanted to like it - especially because the manager is a great guy and very attentive, we left thinking mediocre. My entree was the eggplant with penne (plus...), but I could only see little bits of eggplant skin. After the manager asked how things were and I noted it, he added eggplant. It turned out to be fine, if not great.

The noice level is ridiculous. They desperately need something to absorb sound. A large noisy restaurant is one thing, this was more of a small echo chamber.

As with many local Italian restaurants, the bread was fresh, but soft and not what I would consider italian. Better than the doughy "Wonder" foccacia they serve at Bella Monica, but if I was served this where I grew up (NJ), we would probably have walked out of the restaurant.

The desserts were the best part of the meal.

We ate at Gravy several weeks ago despite the negative reviews and will say it was horrible. The food, the customer service, the lack of attention to detail and the arrogance was unbelievable. It was my worst dining-out experience ever!

To top it off, I sent a note to Gravy via Opentable.com and directly to Empire Eats to complain and got NO response.

I hope Gravy closes down as fast as they opened because they are a disgrace to Italian food.

I've eaten at Gravy twice now and the food was average at best. It's a complete disappointment compared to the other Empire Eats restaurants. Hopefully they can fix it but it's off my list and the list of at least 10 other friends who expressed the same dissatisfaction.
