Thanksgiving Weekend Brings Fun to Raleigh
While Thanksgiving is a big travel weekend across America, those staying in Raleigh will have plenty to do. Beginning Thursday night is Phantom of the Opera in Durham’s DPAC. The show runs through 12/20. Also in the theatre is the Irish Tenors, who play at Memorial Auditorium on Monday night.
For those itching for some sports, be sure to catch the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night when they host Atlanta. If you are thinking ahead, you can park the motor home at the STARPLEX (that’s…Stadium Arena Complex) and spend the night, because the big NCSU/UNC game kicks off at Noon. The game is being carried by ESPN2. Be sure to return on Monday, though, because the Canes will host Washington that night.
If you are staying home on Thursday night, be sure to catch CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute which honors Raleigh bartender Doc Hendley. The show airs on CNN at 9PM. On second thought, DVR it because every loco will be out hunting bargains later that night; it’s Black Friday.

For all of you Wake and Duke fans out there, heck for anyone that cares to watch actual students* play a football game for their college, come out to Durham and watch the Devils do battle with the Deacons. Game begins at noon. Weather should be perfect. Lots of great Seniors on both teams doing battle for the last time. In fact this is the first ACC game in history to feature two QBs that have passed for over 9,000 yards in their careers.
* Recently received graduation and academic information show that Duke and Wake far outpaced the rest of the conference with their graduation rate. While UNC was above average nationally, State had the lowest graduation rate in the ACC.
