TWC Stirs Music Choice Channels
If you are a fan of Music Choice, you may find yourself lost in the new channel allocations from Time Warner in the past couple of days. The service carries 46 channels in all, and has revamped the line up by adding new channels MC MixTape, Hip Hop Classics, Stage & Screen, Toddler Tunes, and True Country. Gone are Bluegrass, Showcase, Show Tunes, Rock ‘En Espanol, Americana, Opera and International Love Songs. Here is the complete list:
David Cook Coming to The Cradle
“Your American Idol” is coming to….. the Cat’s Cradle on Sunday, May 31. Tickets go on sale Friday and are $18. Meanwhile, runner up David Archuletta will be opening for Demi Lovato on her summer tour.
America’s Pita Closing
The America’s Pita Grille on Fayetteville Street is closing and will re-emerge in a few months as a cafe-styled Asian place.
Michael Feinstein Coming to Cary
Booth Amphitheatre will play host to big band crooner Michael Feinstein on Saturday, June 13. Tickets are now on sale , and operators are standing by.
Zoë’s Kitchen Coming to Oberlin Court
Birmingham-based Zoë’s Kitchen will be opening this summer in Oberlin Court. The 22-location chain offers a nutritious, Greek-influenced menu (.pdf) featuring sandwiches, hot plates, and kebabs.
Josh Kelley/Ryan Cabrera Playing Lincoln
A pair of Pop Rock sensations will be hitting the Lincoln Theatre on Thursday, May 14. Augusta native Josh Kelley will headline (video follows). (Kelley is also known as the guy who has to put up with Katherine Heigl every day of the rest of his life). Opening will by Ryan Cabrera . (The 26 year old, managed by Jessica and Ashlee Simpson’s father, is going out with Elvis’ 19-year old granddaughter, Riley Keough .)
Forbes Names Raleigh As Most Popular
WRAL just spotted that Forbes has showered Raleigh with yet another accolade. This time Raleigh tops Forbes’ list of fastest-growing (ie “popular”) metros . Austin, Charlotte and many other southern cities made the top 10.

R-Line Gets Mobile Digital TV
Yesterday Capital Broadcasting and the City of Raleigh launched the first public deployment of mobile digital TV in the nation. The service, which can be seen in on of Raleigh’s downtown circulator buses (the R-Line), delivers real-time digital television and interactive data. The city anticipates roll outs of the service to four other buses later this spring and summer, but ultimately will equip 20 buses by the end of summer 2010.
Jersey Boys Presale Begins Today
Jersey Boys, the story of Frankie Valley and The Four Seasons, is coming to Memorial Auditorium June 24 thru July 18. The individual ticket presale will begin today at 10:00am. Password is “Frankie”.

On Friday, August 21, Josh Gracin has a date with the NCSU folk on Lee Field. At this point, it is hard to tell who is promoting the former AI contestant’s show.
Carolina Rollergirls To Host Eastern Regionals Tournament
Women’s Flat-Track Derby Association (WFTDA) member leagues from Maine to South Carolina will roll into Raleigh September 11-13 for the 2009 Eastern Regionals Tournament, “Wicked Wheels of the East”. Hosted by the Carolina Rollergirls , the 3-day event will be held at Dorton Arena at the N.C. State Fairgrounds.
The Carolina Rollergirls are currently recruiting volunteers to help with the event. Information on volunteering will be available next to the merch booth at the league’s upcoming bout on April 11.
The Rollergirls are also exploring opportunities for community involvement at the event. The league invites traditional as well as off-beat local groups to send an email indicating their interest in performing at the event to WickedInfo@CarolinaRollergirls.com. Past performances at Carolina Rollergirl bouts include the Durham Divas, Hoop Drum, Junior R.O.T.C., and elementary school choirs.
Glenwood Grill Now Serving Breakfast, Small Plates
A few weeks ago, Glenwood Grill chef John Wright began serving a hot breakfast menu (including benedicts) as well as muffins and scones. The breakfast hours are 7:00 am to 10:30 am, M-F. The Grill will soon offer half portions on their dinner menu. Items will be in the $11-$14 range.
Wright, as some of you may recall, is the chef who came here from Magnolias in Charleston and was gone for about a year. He’s back now, and the menus look as strong as ever.
