U-Verse Coming to Raleigh?
Could Time-Warner Cable finally be getting some wired competition in Raleigh? EngadgetHD just posted an article pointing to an interesting craigslist ad. The ad states:
AT&T U-Verse – RESIDENTIAL FEILD AGENTS WANTED! (Raleigh Durham)
While the promise of U-Verse is more than enough to make me scream and shout, I have to wonder about the veracity of a want-ad featuring a major typo. Stay tuned for more…

I live in North Raleigh, and early this summer A&T&T & their contractors tore up our yards to lay fiber through the whole neighborhood (about 350 houses). They did not bring it to each house, just from the main entrance and down all the streets.
I’d say it is a good bet.

i believe that’s because at the end of the street there will be a barry bonds version of a wireless access point, where the houses on the street will link up to. they have this in atlanta now and i can’t wait until it comes here. TWC is horrible, i’ve gone through 3 boxes and a disgruntled service tech that has no clue how to fix it. now ever since they “upgraded” the cable box software, i have to turn my cable box on and off every time i turn the damn channel. ugh.
(for those who are lost with the barry bonds thing,,,think steroid enhanced)

I’m not sure what to think about the Craigslist ad, but the fact that AT&T is building out U-Verse in North Carolina isn’t news – it’s a known fact that was formally announced last year. The only question is when and in what order markets will come on line. This is all thanks to the new legislation that enabled AT&T to negotiate with the state rather than the corrupt officials in Raleigh, Cary etc. whose votes were bought by Time Warner decades ago.
I can’t get satellite (no clear view of the southern sky) and will weep for joy when I can fire Time Warner once and for all.

SWEET! Seems like Raleigh/Durham is way behind in getting fiber-to-the-home/curb given the population of technophiles. IPTV might just be enough to get DirectTV and TWC to quit with their overpriced offerings. I thought FiOS would be here first but U-Verse is heavily involved with Microsoft and that I like for 360, VistaMediaCenter integration, and wishful TV-to-Zune options.

This is great. I hate TWC and their 10 channel HD lineup.
