Meat House, HomeGoods Coming to Falls Village
If the old saying “adversity breeds opportunity” is true, then look no further than Falls Village for an example. Almost three years ago The Fresh Market closed their Falls Village store and moved to the former Harris Teeter space in Sutton Square. The anchor space in Falls Village sat vacant, casting doubt on the center’s viability in its original orientation.
A new tenant is finally on the way for the center, however. HomeGoods will open later this year/early 2011 in the space, complimenting the long-successful TJ Maxx in that center.

Even better news, however, is the arrival of The Meat House to the center’s outparcel. In the space formerly occupied by Mattress Warehouse, next to Moe’s, The Meat House will open in February. It will be the chain’s second area store and will bring all of the delicious fresh and marinated meats to North Raleigh that Cary has been enjoying all year.

Now to fill that space where Books-A-Million just closed…

SWEET!!! The Meat House addition is the best news I’ve heard since the Durant area Chubby’s Tacos was first rumored.
Who knows what can fill the Books-A-Million spot. A difficult size to fill with a business that isn’t already well represented in the area. It will probably end up something boring like an AC Moore, a Curves, or a budget shoe/clothing store.

Why would you ever buy The Meat House’s Iowa pork, when we have great, NC, grass fed pork at every farmers market in the Triangle. This is for the same people that order those terrible, tasteless Omaha Steak’s pork parts.

OMG…Costco, Trader Joe’s, Fresh Market, Meat House, home! I’ll never have to leave Falls of the Neuse/Wake Forest Roads.
Richard, it’s not about the pork (NC is still king)….it’s all about the beef.

I love the Meat House in Cary. This is good news. Even though it is a chain, I have been impressed by the focus they have on carrying local goods. If you have not been, it is also a small upscale grocery with a lot more than just very good meat.

I am happy that the Meat House is doing well. We frequently get one of their many ready-to-grill items, like the Port Wine marinated steak tips. They are all delicious.
I’m a little disappointed in the site selection, though. The North Ridge area already has a Harris Teeter and a GREAT Fresh Market. A new Whole Foods is being built nearby, so the Meat House will have some big competition.
I think they would have done better in the North Hills area. North Ridge isn’t going to draw a single person from south of Capital Towers on Six Forks, so they lose all of ITB and the North Hills area. I doubt that they will draw much from north of 540.
Too, people from the North Ridge area are more likely to drive toward 440 for things, like Trader Joe’s. Finally, in the 440 area, the Meat House would absolutely own the entire meat “market” for central Raleigh.

Wron, Dana. Foster’s Bar owns the meat market scene, hands down.

Dollar Tree is opening Jan 30 in the old Books A Million space on Falls of Neuse Road. They will do well I expect with this economy and the demographics nearby. This is the best of all the dollar stores because everything really is a dollar.
