gogo Changes With The Times

gogogarner It’s been an excellent 3 years here celebrating all things fun about living in Raleigh. However tides change, tables turn, nobody stays on top forever. Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you are well aware that the real energy in the Triangle has shifted… to Garner . Once upon a time Raleigh had the best singers, the best football teams, and the best restaurants. That is no more. It was pretty obvious even before Scotty McCreery’s ascent on American Idol began. Great websites change with the times, so from now on this site will not only change its focus away from buildings not being built and festivals not happening in Raleigh. We are also changing our name to gogogarner, because as the town motto says, "Garneria. It’s spreading!"

Traffic Channel Coming to TWC

trafficchannel On July 20 Time Warner Cable will roll out The Traffic Channel. The channel features traffic revolving reports from the nation’s largest 50 markets. A local TWC spokesperson said,"We looked at our channel lineups and realized that there are times of the days when, even with 568 channels, there still isn’t anything on. So we formed a committee of people who watch TV the most and asked them.’what do you want?’. ‘What excites you’?”

He later explained,“Obviously people have a real thirst for traffic reports, but we go a step further. We’re going to bring traffic reports 24/7 from other cities. If you want to see what traffic is like on the Minneapolis I-35 at midnight, we’ve got you covered! It’s our way of connecting the world, and showing how powerful cable TV can be in enriching our lives. With Oprah going off the air, what could be more exciting in the afternoon than following the traffic problems in Phoenix from right here in Raleigh?" 2011acornGGR_AFD

NBA Picks RBC Center for All-Star Game

Tired of its stale product and lackluster fans, the NBA has selected the RBC Center in Raleigh for its 2013 NBA All-Star Game. NBA spokesperson Garrick Jergins said,"We were floored with the success of the NHL All-Star Game in Raleigh which happened 3 weeks before our event in L.A. Once our event rolled around we realized how boring our skills competition is, and we realized how sick our fans are of our All-Star product. We also realized that markets like L.A. are only for fair weather fans, and if hockey can make it in Raleigh, a city that got its first ice rink only in 1987, then the NBA is a sure-fired success; if for only one weekend."

Charlotte leaders were extremely upset with the decision. However Jerkins pointed out, "Charlotte didn’t even sell out NCAA games featuring North Carolina and Duke! And the people who were there were even more boring than L.A. fans". 2011acornGGR_AFD

Triangle Rail Plan Approved

20090912-247 Today the Triangle Rail Council approved a Light Rail system that will connect Raleigh, Durham, North Raleigh, Cary, and Garner in its first phase. The system will be much like the light rail line in Charlotte, however the Triangle system will be focused more on fiscal responsibility. "Instead of letting the system’s low fares become a life-long Sales Tax drag on area consumers, we wanted the system to be sustainable and operate on its own funding, kind of like how the airport does it," said TRC spokesperson Steve Council. The TRC explained that the $53 per trip fees should be enough to cover 20-year construction and operating costs. "We are hopeful that the system will exceed income projections. So, there is a chance we will lower the fares to the upper 40′s some time in the system’s first decade." The system is projected to begin operations in 2020.
