24-Hour Diner Coming to Glenwood

TBJ is reporting that the former Hard Times Cafe spot will soon be overhauled and will open as The Diner. It will be the latest concept by Niall Hanley’s Hibernian Company, the group that brought The Hibernian and Solas to that area. The Diner will open in the fall and will be a 24-hour American fare joint.

This is GREAT news, we need a 24-hour place!

I have somewhat mixed thoughts on this one. I am glad a 24 hour diner is opening in that area, and this group does a great job with Hibernian and Solas.

That noted, hopefully as downtown grows it will be less dominated by groups that own several places.

This better not be an upscale rendition of a diner. I mean most people from the North will tell you that they love the Greek run/owned diners and I’m hoping it is somewhere between that and some places you see on Diners, Drive-ins, and dives. It will be interesting to see. It would be cool if it was like a Drive-In design where you could sit in your car and eat. Okay there isn’t any parking for that so nevermind. It is true that there needs to be a 24 hr place.

Great idea! Looking forward to it…

I don’t have a problem with owners of more than one place, if they are good. Everyone on the sidelines is welcome to jump in anytime to fill these spaces.
I could totally hit up a diner, day or night.

Great. Just hope the late night drunks don’t shut it down. These guys should have enough experience with late night drunks. Late night diners tend to draw them but they also draw me (and I am usually sober). Need a downtown 24 hour eating place.

Go Niall. Nice! A much needed addition to Downtown.

When can I pick up an application? This sounds like the place to work!!!
